“Not everyone who wears khakhi shorts and wields a lathi is a patriot. We have to be careful about RSS. Nathuram Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi, is the first ever terrorist in India,” said Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and former chief minister D. Devaraj Urs, organised by the KPCC, he said, "It was Congress Party which fought the British. But if you listen to Modi making a speech, you will end up thinking they fought for freedom. Modi is a good speaker and a liar. He can win an award for telling lies."
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recalled Rajiv Gandhi's contribution to the telecom revolution in India and also reminded people that he was responsible for granting voting rights at 18 years.
Hailing Devaraj Urs, the CM said, "Urs believed that change was possible only with social, economical and educational equality. His land reforms redistributed wealth and enabled the illiterates to pursue education and employment by implementing reservation. I am proud to say he hails from my district."
