Three days after actor Kamal Haasan came down heavily on the ruling AIADMK government, saying no government department in Tamil Nadu was free of corruption, Local Administration Minister S.P. Velumani has issued threats against the actor.

Speaking to reporters at an event at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, the minister said he will conduct an audit to check if the actor had properly paid taxes for his films.

After visiting the hospital to meet people who suffered injuries in a road accident near Mettupalayam, Velumani sounded a little harsh when he was asked about the actor’s statement on the government administration. The minister launched a tirade against the actor, demanding Haasan to submit proof for the allegations he made against the government. “Is there any evidence for Haasan to prove that corruption prevails in various government departments? If so, let him prove it.”

The minister also threatened to launch a probe into the tax records of the actor. "I will conduct an audit to check if the actor had properly paid taxes for his films."

He further said the government is fighting various graft charges.

The actor has been embroiled in various controversies after he began hosting the Tamil version of the reality show Bigg Boss. Earlier, various right wing groups, like the Hindu Makkal Katchi sought a ban on the show saying it is against Tamil culture.
