A rivalry between fans of two larger-than-life heroes turned bloody at Kolar in Karnataka on Sunday as a supporter of actor Pawan Kalyan was stabbed to death allegedly by a Jr NTR fan after a heated argument over which actor was better.
Jr NTR is the grandson of legendary actor and former AP Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. A popular actor, he has acted in many box office hits like Simhadri, Student no 1 and Yama Donga.
Pawan Kalyan, younger brother of superstar Chiranjeevi, has many popular films including Jalsa, Gabbar Singh, Thammudu and Tholiprema to his credit. Pawan Kalyan is also the chief of the newly formed political outfit, Jana Sena Party.
24-year-old Vinod Kumar was an active member of Jana Sena party. He along with his four friends attended an event in Kolar and was invited to the stage to speak. The event was attended by fans of both Jr NTR and Pawan Kalyan. Vinod's speech apparently angered the Jr NTR faction.
Both the groups carried that anger to a bar at Narasapura where an argument broke out between Vinod Kumar and Akshay, the accused. The altercation went out of control and Akshay allegedly stabbed Vinod on his chest. Akshay was later arrested.
Pawan Kalyan met Vinod's family members in Tirupati and consoled them.
