The upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit to be held later this month in Hyderabad has kick-started a unique social media campaign. Impressed by the beautification works taken up by the Hyderabad civic authorities on a war footing to welcome Ivanka Trump—White House advisor and daughter of US president—and other foreign delegates, netizens have taken to Facebook to extend invitation to to the visiting dignitaries to visit their localities. Mentioning the areas, users have appealed to Ivanka though their posts to visit them so that the condition of the roads would improve.

Tarusha Saxena, a PR professional posted, “Ms. Ivanka Trump, we the citizens of Masab Tank, Banjara Hills and Punjagutta collectively cordially invite you to grace Banjara Hills road no 1 and Punjagutta with your convoy during your Hyderabad visit. This will ensure smooth and traffic less roads for us for next 3-4 months in these areas.”

Another Facebook user, Sandesh Johny posted, “Ivanka Trump is coming to Hyderabad and all the routes she will be taking are being repaired. I hope she comes to Hafeezpet... Bahut hi kharab road hain.”

Some also expressed gratitude and requested the head of the US delegation to visit Hyderabad more often.

Siva Reddy, a resident of Cyberabad posted, “Dear Ms. Ivanka Trump. As a citizen of India, especially as a citizen of Hi-tech city, Hyderabad, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks for coming to Hyderabad. Your gesture of coming to Hyderabad has made our lives at Hi-tech city so glad. We are used to disgustingly terrible and bumpy roads in this place. Thus, we used to get stuck daily in traffic jams. As you are planning to visit this place, my government has ensured the roads look clean and smooth. Thus, for the past 2 days, there have been no traffic jams. We are highly grateful to you for easing our lives in India.”

He ended his post on a sarcastic note.

“Also, let me request you to visit Hyderabad at least twice in a year. In case you are busy, please send your pet at least, as your pet is lot more precious and worthy than the citizens who strive to live here and pay taxes.”

Some angry voices aimed at the government also surfaced online.

“This is so irritating, because Ivanka Trump is coming to Hyderabad, suddenly all roads get fixed around where she is slated to travel, footpaths flattened and stoned, side walls painted, beggars removed, sand and stones taken away from the roads, construction debris cleaned, just because the daughter of US president is coming to town.”

The three-day summit, jointly organised by US and Indian government, is expected to be attended by hundreds of entrepreneurs and members of startup ecosystem from across the globe.
