Two jail officials and a policeman were suspended on Thursday after TV channels aired video footages showing a woman performing dance on the campus of central jail at Vijayapura in Karnataka.
Jail-in-charge P.S. Ambekar, Warden Sampat and Head Constable Gundalli were suspended based on a report from Vijayapura District Superintendent of Police Siddaramappa.
According to media reports, the jail authorities arranged sizzling 'item' dance for the jail inmates on the Republic Day on Tuesday.

The entertainment programme was part of a function attended by district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil and the deputy commissioner, to reward the prisoners for their good behaviour.
Reports claimed that two dance girls from Mumbai were arranged for the event. Video showed the performer being showered with currency notes.
DGP (Prisons) Satyanarayana Rao told reporters that a Bengaluru police team would investigate the incident thoroughly to find out as to who arranged the item songs.
Thirty-eight inmates were released from jail on January 26.
