IndiGo has lifted the fly ban imposed on Telugu Desam MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy for alleged aggressive behaviour against its staff.

In the wake of the ban, the MP was forced to book a chartered flight to reach Delhi for the presidential elections. This cost the MP a hefty Rs 7 lakh.

On June 15, the MP arrived at the Visakhapatnam airport 28 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the flight. This was against the regulation time of 45 minutes allowed to other passengers. He was refused a boarding pass, which angered him leading to a heated argument. Although he was finally allowed to board the flight, he was banned by seven major airlines

"The issue is amicably resolved and IndiGo has decided to lift the said ban with immediate effect. Mr Reddy is withdrawing the case he has filed," an IndiGo spokesperson said.

While the airlines had filed a police complaint against the MP, the Visakhapatnam police did not file an FIR. Reddy managed to get the ban lifted without having to apologise, unlike his Shiv Sena colleague Ravindra Gaikwad, who had to tender a `regret' letter to Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on April 6 after he beat up an Air India employee.
