A 24-year-old software engineer from Kachiguda in Hyderabad was allegedly stabbed to death by his roommate in his flat in North Austin of the US.
The deceased has been identified as Gundam Sankirth. "Today morning we got a call from our relatives and Pranith, one of his friends, that Sankeerth was stabbed by one Sai Sandeep Goud, a roommate," Sankirth's uncle Srinivas said.
Sankirth died while being shifted to a hospital and the accused had been taken into custody by the local police, Srinivas said.
Sankirth had come to the US about two years ago and had started working in Austin after finishing his Master of Science studies.
Although the reason behind the murder is yet to be known, the family members claimed that the accused used to make fun of Sankirth over his weak body and used to ask him to go to a gym to pack some muscles.
Praneeth said the accused was in an inebriated condition when he attacked Sankirth. He said he was sleeping in another room when he heard the noise. Praneeth found the victim in a pool of blood when he reached the room.
The family members do not know much about Sandeep as he joined Sankirth as flatmate only a few days ago.
