Eight terrorists belonging to the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail, were killed in an encounter barely a few kilometres away from the jail.
According to Bhopal IG Yogesh Chaudhary, the terrorists were killed in an encounter after a person from Acharpura village informed the police about the presence of the escapees in the village in the wee hours. Chaudhary said the terrorists were armed.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP said it would celebrate the elimination of SIMI terrorists as Diwali. Many BJP workers came out to the streets of Bhopal after the news of the encounter broke out.
