A month after a headless body of a woman was recovered in Ramapuram in Chennai from a garbage bin, the police have managed to get a breakthrough. The body was identified as Sasirekha, a small time actress in Tamil movies.
Sasirekha is suspected to have been murdered by her husband Ramesh, with the help of his girlfriend Lawkiiyaa Kashiiv, who is also an actress.
The 32-year-old victim, a divorcee, last year married Ramesh, who runs a casting agency promising jobs for aspiring actors in Tamil films. Ramesh's affair with Kashiiv reportedly had been causing trouble in his marriage with Sasirekha.
Sasirekha had also filed police complaints, including domestic violence against Ramesh. The troubled marriage and an extra-marital affair seems to have led to the gruesome murder of Sasirekha.
Police began probing about Sasirekha after her parents find a missing complaint. Ramesh was arrested after the officials found him also missing. He was tracked down to a house in Valasaravakkam, where he was arrested along with Kashiiv.
The murder is said to have taken place on January 4.
With the help of the suspects, police recovered Sasirekha's head from a canal near Kolapakkam. Both the suspects are placed under judicial custody.
