The devaswom bench of Kerala High Court will on Tuesday take up a letter seeking the court's intervention to take suo moto action in the temple fireworks tragedy saying that none can take away the lives of the innocent.

The devaswom bench will treat the letter, written by Justice V. Chitambaresh of the Kerala High Court, as a public interest litigation in the wake of the tragedy at the Puttingal Devi temple in Paravur in Kollam that left 112 people dead and over 350 others injured.

Justice Chitambaresh wrote a letter to the Kerala High Court registrar on Monday.

The court decided to hand over the letter to the devaswom bench (the bench that deals in cases related to temples), and asked it to treat the letter as a public interest litigation. It posted it for hearing on Tuesday at 1.45 pm.

Chitambaresh was sworn in as additional judge of the high court November 8, 2011 and appointed as permanent judge from December 7, 2012.
