As part of the International Gita Festival, the government has announced a train service connecting ancient cities of Mathura and Kurukshetra.
Mathura is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna, while the battle of Mahabharata between Pandavas and Kauravas is believed to have been fought at Kurukshetra. According to mythology, the Gita was delivered to Arjuna by Krishna in the middle of the epic war.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will flag off the Gita Jayanti Express train on December 6 at Mathura. The train will leave Mathura at 6 am and reach Kurukshetra by noon. It will leave Kurukshetra at 2 pm and reach Mathura via Delhi at 8 pm.
