Various social and medical professionals will join hands to conduct a free cancer screening camp for Kerala police officials and their families and it is expected to benefit over 1.5 lakh people.

The Kerala police force consists of 54,000 officials.

The novel initiative coordinated by Swasthi Foundation, a city based non-profitable organisation, is expected to complete the entire screening in six months time.

"The state level inauguration of this would be held here on Kerala Formation Day - November 1 and participating are about 200 cancer specialists and 500 paramedical professionals. This would be held across the 19 police districts in the state," said Abey George, Secretary of the Foundation, on Saturday.

Various medical colleges, both public and private sector, and social organisations are taking part in the initiative.
