Four civilians were injured when Pakistan Rangers resorted to heavy shelling along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday.

"Four civilians were injured in the overnight Pakistan ceasefire violation in Arnia, R.S. Pura and Ramgarh sectors.

"Two houses have been damaged. 727 residents of border villages in these areas have shifted to safer locations," the police added.

The firing and heavy shelling by the Pakistani troops started around 7 pm. No casualty has been reported. Further details are awaited.

This ceasefire comes a day after one army jawan lost his life in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran Sector.

Earlier in the week, two Pakistani terrorists were killed after the Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled an infiltration bid across the international boundary in the Ajnala Sector near Amritsar, Punjab. When challenged by the BSF troops, the infiltrators fired along the ambush line with automatic weapons.

Taking cover, the fire was appropriately retaliated and infiltrators were neutralised near the Border Security Fence.

The forces also recovered four packets of Heroine, one AK-47 Rifle, one AK Mag, one pistol, one mobile phone, and Pakistani currency worth Rs 20,000.
