West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet party colleague and senior leader, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, accused in multi-crore chit fund scam. Bandyopadhyay is at Apollo hospital in Bhubaneswar and spending his term of judicial custody. He suffers from an intestine-related disease.
From the airport, Mamata will go straight to Apollo hospital late in the evening. However, she will be accompanied by three senior CBI officials.
Mamata had earlier sent her party leaders and ministers to meet arrested MP.
She told reporters, “Sudip da is sick. Why shouldn't I meet him?”
Mamata will also visit Puri’s Jagannnath temple and offer Puja, which she has not done for last several years. This comes days after the prime minister took time out of the BJP’s national executive meet to offer prayers ar Puri temple.
Mamata is also likely to meet Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik and discuss the possibility of a third front ahead of 2019 polls.
