"Communications from the party should be signed by an authorised office bearer"

The Election Commission (EC) rejected AIADMK's response on Sasikala's elevation, saying that signatory T.T.V.Dinakaran was not in poll panel list of party office bearers.

In what could be called a major set back for the Sasikala faction, EC on Friday rejected the response submitted by T.T.V.Dinakaran, giving explanation for Sasikala's elevation as the party general secretary.

In the letter duly signed by the commission's secretary Pramod Sharma, addressed to her with the Parappana Agrahara jail address, the EC said, “ it is stated that Dinakaran is not an office bearer as per the commission's record. Communications from the party should be signed by an authorised office bearer. Hence, the reply should either be submitted under your own signature or you may authorise somebody to do so on your behalf.

Incidentally, Dinakaran is not on the EC list of office bearers of AIADMK. So, the commission has written to Sasikala to send response signed by office bearer who is on the list submitted by the party to the EC. A reply should reach EC by March 10, says the letter. A copy has been marked to Rajya Sabha MP V.Maitreyan, who is one of the complainants from the Panneerselvam camp.

In yet another development, Panneerselvam said he would not rest till the mystery behind Jayalalithaa's death is revealed.
