Drunk Hyderabad student leaves 9-year-old girl in ventilator

A nine-year-old girl from Hyderabad is on ventilator support after a speeding car, driven by a drunken youth, rammed the vehicle the girl was travelling in.

According to reports, the uncle of the girl, Ramya, died in the accident while her mother, grandfather and another uncle sustained serious injuries.

Doctors said the girl suffered from internal bleeding after the accident and is brain dead, adding that she is not in a condition to undergo surgery.

On Friday, the family had picked up the girl from St. Ann's school in West Maredpally where she was studying. They were at Banjara Hills when an i10, driven by the accused, identified as Shravil, rammed into their Santro.

Shravil and his friends had missed movie tickets and had ended up in a bar in the afternoon. They decided to drive although the accused was drunk and did not even have a driving license. Shravil and his friends are engineering students.
