In a tragic incident, a two-day-old girl was killed by stray dogs at Vikharabad, 100km away from Hyderabad. The dogs also partly ate her body.
Although a few people rushed to the spot hearing the cries of the girl, she could not be saved. The identity of the girl is yet to be known, but a few witnesses said they had seen two women with a child taking shelter at the bus stand nearby for the night and leave in the morning without the child, suggesting that the child may have been abandoned.
A case under Section 318 of the IPC (Concealment of birth by secret disposal of body) has been registered in connection with the incident.
There had been a similar incident of dogs eating an infant near Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Kadapa town two years ago.
