After the Congress removed Digvijaya Singh as general secretary in-charge of Goa and Karnataka, his brother Laxman Singh, in a tweet, sarcastically thanked party chief Sonia Gandhi for 'reuniting the two brothers.'

Laxman, who quit the Congress in 2004 and got elected on a BJP Lok Sabha ticket, came back to the Congress in 2011. Currently holding the post of vice president in Madhya Pradesh Congress, Laxman had, a few days back, also suggested that only if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi go to jail like Indira Gandhi, a revival is possible in the Congress.

The five-time former Member of Parliament who is known for making controversial statements, Laxman also attacked senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member Satyavrat Chaturvedi. Chaturvedi had few days ago said Digvijaya should be removed from Madhya Pradesh and sent to Tamil Nadu. Laxaman, in a tweet reply, asked Chaturvedi to win a municipal election before attacking his brother. He went on to say leaders like Chaturvedi are responsible for the poor condition of the Congress in MP.

Chaturvedi, a vocal critic of Digvijaya since 1995, has been an MLA and member of Lok Sabha. He has openly demanded that the reins of the Congress in MP be given to to Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Meanwhile, Digvijaya, in a series of tweets, said he is happy that finally Rahul Gandhi has picked up a new team. “I am loyal to the party and Nehru-Gandhi family and owe my position to the party and to them,” he said.

Evan as many top state Congress have refused to break silence over the decision of Rahul Gandhi to remove Digvijaya as party in-charge in the two states, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya took a potshot at the party saying, “It's a suspense why Digvijaya Singh fell out of Rahul Gandhi's good books. It is like Baahubali thriller suspense.’’

Digvijaya Singh, in a recent interview to THE WEEK had said, “My suggestions to Rahul Gandhi is that he should be acting more decisively and take quick decisions. He should bring in a new team. We have been there for a long time. I have been general secretary for last 13 years. Now there should be change.’’

“Congress had an introspection committee headed by A.K. Antony after the Lok Sabha defeat. The report given was widely discussed among the central leaders. Rahul Gandhi sat for more than 100 hours, discussing this report. It was discussed with state and district leaders. All the general secretaries submitted a report based on those deliberations in February 2015 to Rahul Gandhi. On the basis of that report, Rahul Gandhi should act now,” he had said.
