As pollution levels worsened in Delhi, the critical security functions of the national capital have been hit by the rising smog, posing a challenge to security personnel.
The lead critical infrastructure security agency of the central government, the Central Industrial Security Force, has decided to issue anti-air pollution masks to nearly 7000 of its men deployed in the security functions at airport, metros and sensitive government buildings like the PMO, North Block, South Block and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The CISF move has come to block the choking and dulling of responses due to prolonged exposure of its men to outdoor conditions.
"The step has been taken on the directions issued by CISF DG O.P. Singh. This will help the personnel deployed at these places to perform their duties effectively," a CISF spokesperson said.
The CISF will also deploy medical teams at airport, metros and major government buildings to keep an eye on its personnel having breathing troubles at places choked with the smog.
