Chouhan to sit on indefinite fast for peace from today

Faced with an anarchic situation in the state due to farmer's agitation, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that he will sit on ‘fast for peace’.

On the 10th day of violent protests in the state that led to six farmers killed in police firing in Mandsaur, the chief minister said he was ready to talk to farmers to reach a peaceful solution.

He said he would observe an indefinite fast at the Dussehra Maidan from today morning.

Chouhan invited farmers to come to the fast venue and hold discussion in open. In a hurriedly called press conference, Chouhan said "anti-social elements" are deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Meanwhile, violent protests of farmers reached on the outskirts of Bhopal where several vehicles were torched. Another farmer, Ghyanshyam Dhakar from Mandsaur, died after succumbing to injuries from a police firing.

Another farmer committed suicide in Raisen district 50 kilometer from Bhopal.
