The 'Love Jihad' issue is back again with a controversial Whatsapp message allegedly circulated by the 'Students of Muslim Youth Forum' sparking off a storm in Gujarat.
According to media reports, the message, which has gone viral, offers cash reward to Muslim youths if they marry girls belonging to other religions.
“If a Muslim youth marries a Hindu Brahmin girl, he would be awarded with Rs 5 lakhs, similarly if someone gets hitched with a Sikh Punjabi girl, he would be given Rs 7 lakhs,” the message drafted in both English and Urudu reads.
It further says “If the girl is from Kshatriya Hindu community, the cash reward would be Rs 4.5 lakhs, Gujarat Brahmin girl Rs 6 lakhs, Punjabi Hindu Rs 6 lakhs, Christian Roman Cathlolic Rs 4 lakhs, Christian Protestant Rs 3 lakhs, Jain Rs 3 lakhs, Gujarati Kutch girl Rs 3 lakhs.”
It has given four addresses where the Muslim youths can collect money if they succeed in marrying girls in other religion. It has also mentioned 11 contact numbers.
Reports say officials have already begun a probe into the matter and strict vigil is being maintained in sensitive areas.
