Come the school admission season, and the minister for human resources is plagued by all kinds of people, who request their ward’s admission into a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
That rush possibly drove home the need for more such schools.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the proposal for opening of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country .
The proposed 50 new schools will cost the government Rs 1,160 crores.
The new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened from classes I to V . In all, 650 regular posts shall be created .
With the addition of one higher class in every school every year till the schools have Class XII, and have two sections, the requirement of regular posts is estimated to be 4000. The schools when fully functional will have about 50000 students.
The Kendriya Vidyalayas established so far have 12 lakh students.
