Both Modiji and Mamata ji are similar. They cannot tell truth. Mamata ji vowed to fight against corruption. But she is ridden with Saradha and Narada scam. She did nothing—Rahul Gandhi
CPM patriarch Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday shook their hands and exchanged greetings. Both of them talked to each other for more than ten minutes in their first ever meeting that happened during an election.
Buddhadeb stood up as the first speaker and declared: “Yes we are close to the number. Crucial two phases are still remaining. And we are sure we are coming to power.”
Both the leaders raised their hands together for a photo shoot.
A thunderous applause followed. Congress workers shouted out, “Vande mataram.” CPM workers shouted out, “Inquilab zindabad.”
Buddhadeb on Wednesday admitted that his sharing dais with Rahul Gandhi was “historic”.
“I know entire India is looking at us. Entire Bengal is looking at us. Neither Kolkata nor Bengal has seen such meeting in the past. But I am here because country is at threat, Bengal is at threat,” said Buddhadeb.
He lambasted Mamata government for shutting factories and not bringing investment.
“What is more ironical is that none could say any word unless he or she does Trinamool Congress. It’s a torturous government. It does not allow anyone to live in peace. Students who are studying in colleges and engineering colleges are not getting jobs. I am assuring you, we will make a huge change,” said Buddhadeb.
At a rally in Park Circus, a Muslim dominated belt in Kolkata, Buddhadeb said, “Defeating Trinamool means defeating BJP. They are in together.”
Rahul picked up from where Buddhadeb had left.
“Both Modiji and Mamata ji are similar. They cannot tell truth. Mamata ji vowed to fight against corruption. But she is ridden with Saradha and Narada scam. She did nothing. People who saved their hard earned money lost their deposits due to scam ignited by Trinamool Congress leaders in Saradha scam,” said Rahul.
Echoing Buddhadeb, Rahul also said that alliance of the Congress and the Left is coming to power in Bengal.
“Mamata ji you won't have to take action against corrupt people. Our new government in Bengal will take action. We will bring back the past glories of Bengal given by Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekanda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,” said Rahul.
Buddhadeb asked his party-men to take the challenge in next two phases of poll. He reminded the workers quoting Tagore, “where the mind is without fear and head is held high.”
“We never saw Buddha babu predicting the win. This he has done for the first time. But then he has shared dais with Rahul for the first time as well,” said a party worker.
