Blue whale game claims first life in Gujarat

Even as the deadly Blue Whale game challenge claimed the first life in Gujarat in the form of a 20-year-old boy from Banaskantha district, the Rajkot Police Commissioner has issued an advisory asking people to be cautious about the game.

Body of Ashok P. Thakore was fished out of  river Sabarmati on Friday. A resident of Malan village of Palanpur taluka, he was missing for the last two days. 

According to sources, Thakore, who had studied till class XII, is survived by his mother and two sisters. His father had died a year ago. 

It has now emerged that before jumping into the river, Thakore had uploaded a video on Facebook.

He recorded that he wasn't pressurised but was taking the extreme step as he was “bored” with his life. In his case, the last stage of the game was to jump into the river Sabarmati.

Before committing suicide, the victim had taken Rs 46,000 from his home. 

He mentioned that he had played the Blue Whale game. 

The family came to know about the possible trouble after they watched the video and later alerted the police. The search then began to find out Thakore. The village where he belonged is under shock.

Rajkot police commissioner Anupam Singh Ghelot on Saturday issued an advisory asking people not to download the game and alert police if they see anybody downloading it.
