BJP set to form government in Tripura, claims Shah

The BJP chief tears apart left government, promises good governance

BJP president Amit Shah announced on Monday that the party was all set to form the government in Tripura. “After weeks-long campaign, I have felt that we are going to form the next government,” Shah said while addressing media in Agartala.

“I have witnessed frustrated faces of the CPI(M) cadres and leaders. That has led me to believe that they have lost already. So they are attacking us. Three days back they killed one of our local leaders,” he said.

Shah said Tripura would be the 25th state in India where NDA had formed governments.

The BJP chief urged people not to give vote to Congress as it has “come up to help CPM win as many seats as possible”.

“To give votes to Congress is a total waste. So I would request people not to vote for them,” Shah said.

He said Tripura, under the left regime, has been one of the most backward states in India.

“We have sent around Rs 25,000 crore, an increase of Rs 18,000 crore, under the 14th finance commission. Despite that, seven lakh youths are jobless in Tripura as registered with the government. Before the left took over power in the state, the figure was 25,000,” Shah said.

He also said apart from this, Rs 18,000 crore was sent as grant while Rs 950 crore under various central government schemes.

“Despite all that, look at the situation in Tripura,” he said.

Like railway and road projects, Shah said, the BJP government would give good governance, public sector investment, private investment and good law and order if it came to power.

“I fail to understand the fact that out of five girls raped in India, two are from Tripura. This is what Manik Sarkar government has left Tripura as,” the BJP president said. Shah was flanked by state BJP president Biplab Deb, BJP’s northeast in-charge Ram Madhab and Northeast Development Alliance chief Himanth Biswasharma.
