MLC arrested over land scam

Telugu Desam Party MLC Deepak Reddy was arrested in connection with a land scam case. He was arrested and sent to the Chanchalguda jail on Wednesday, where he will be held for two weeks along with his associates. Reddy amassed more than Rs. 6,455 crore worth property in various places in Hyderabad. He allegedly registered land in the names of dead people and later placed petitions in court, claiming that the land was his. Police arrested Reddy's lawyer Sailendra Saxena, and realtor Srinivas. Reddy presented fake property documents in the name of benamis for land worth Rs 163 crores in Asif Nagar, Hyderabad. In the election affidavit to the MLC post, Reddy had shown that he had Rs 7,000 crores worth property. Reddy managed to grab 3,128 acres in a single location in Telangana, 16,000 square yards in Jubilee Hills, 13,224 square yards in Banjara Hills Road No. 12, 2400 square yards in Bengaluru which are in his wife's name, three acres of land in Kotwal Guda near Shamshabad area, 8084 square yards at Banjara Hills, Road No. 12 and 840 square yards in Raidurg area under Serilingampally mandal. This happened in the land ruled by TRS. TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu has suspended the MLC, who is son-in-law of Anantpur MP J.C. Diwaker Reddy. The CM also had a meeting with his party leaders and ministers of the TDP coordination committee and told them that those facing allegations of corruption had no place in the party.

MP creates ruckus at airport

Even as corrupt MLCs are being suspended, the case of angry MLAs has brought Naidu more shame. TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy created a scene at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday when the authorities did not issue a boarding pass to him. He had arrived late and demanded a boarding pass. When the staff refused to issue him a pass, in a fit of rage, he manhandled an airline employee and proceeded to destroy a printer on the counter. While Diwakar Reddy was not the first VIP to throw a tantrum at any airport, this incident, coming in the wake of Deepak Reddy's arrest, adds more news value. Reddy was later allowed to board the plane, leading to speculation that it was because of the intervention of the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju. But Raju was quick in clarifying his stand and assured that he would probe into the entire incident. Diwakar Reddy was later banned from several airlines.
