In a veiled attack on the Congress government in poll-bound Karnataka, Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde said the condition of the state is similar to time of Mahabharata.

His comment comes days after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah compared the upcoming assembly elections in the state to the battle of Kurukshetra and the Congress to righteous Pandavas and the BJP to Kauravas. "This time, elections are no less than any war. In this election, we are like Pandavas, who are walking on the righteous path while BJP is like Kauravas, who are walking on the wrong path," the CM had said.

Hegde, while addressing a gathering in Udupi, without taking any name, said the Dhritarashtra 'Karnataka government' is being 'blind' to the actions of few people in the state, reports ANI.

"Like in ancient times Dhritarashtra was blind to the actions of Duryodhana and Dushasana, today also there are Dushasana and Duryodhana here (Karnataka) and Dhritarashtra is blind to their actions," Hegde said.

Hegde is no stranger to making outlandish statements. The Union minister had, a few weeks ago, said he wants to amend the Constitution to remove the word “secular” from it. “"Seculars do not know what their blood is. Yes constitution has given that right to say 'we are secular and we will say it'. Yes, I know but constitution has been amended many times, we will also amend it. We have come to power for that,” he had said.

In 2016, he was booked for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Islam.
