Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra will lead the government’s Incredible India campaign as its brand ambassadors.
The selection of brand ambassadors of the Incredible India campaign was necessitated after the Centre discontinued the contract of Aamir Khan, who had been heading the campaign for 3 years.
While many alleged that Aamir was removed for his statements on intolerance in India, the government rubbished the reports.
"It was the (private) agency which has hired him. Since the contract with the agency is no more, automatically the arrangement with the actor no longer exists," Sharma had said.
Aamir came under heavy fire from different quarters following his comments on alleged growing intolerance in India. He said his star wife Kiran fears for life of her kin in light of a spate of communal incidents and she suggested that they should probably leave the country.
His comments sparked a nationwide outrage.
