As the Samajwadi Party finds itself embroiled in an internal war in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party is smelling an opportunity took its battle to the Yadav stronghold ahead of the Assembly elections. BJP chief Amit Shah held a rally in Etawah on Thursday, where he hit out at the SP, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress.

Referring to the surgical strikes along the Line of Control, Shah claimed that it was the first time since independence that army had given a strong answer to the enemies. The BJP chief also paid his tribute to the army men who lost their lives in terrorists attack in Kashmir, particularly to BSF jawan Nitin Yadav who belonged to Etawah.

“The surgical strikes have given a befitting answer to the enemy. Anyone transgressing our country's boundaries will not be spared,” Shah said addressing the rally.

In scathing attack on his political rivals, Shah said the BSP, SP and Congress were a den for criminals. However, criminals had no place in the BJP as it was a party of patriots, he said.

Shah alleged that all the development work done by the Modi government was not percolating down because of the infighting between the uncle and nephew in the state, a reference to Shivpal Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh.

The BJP chief targeted the state  government over deteriorating law and order situation and said the BJP would take action against land grabbers once it came to power. He said even Mayawati, who claimed of controlling crime, could not do anything and crime rate had spiraled during her regime.

“Neither nephew, nor aunt can change law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, only BJP can,” Shah said in an oblique reference to Akhilesh and Mayawati.

He said the Congress party in the state would only be able to divide the votes and help either the SP or the BSP win.
