E-PANCHAYAT PROGRAMME

All villages in Telangana to go digital by August 15

All this will be done online, thanks to the e-Panchayat programme, according to the State Panchayatraj and Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. These e-Panchayat centres would act as 'One Stop Shop' offering a wide range of citizen services, including tax payments, pension and NREGA payments not only in urban sectors but even in the remote villages in the state.

All the e-Panchayat centres will be managed only by educated women in the villages.

The government would use VSAT technology and fibre optic cable network for connecting e-Panchayat centres. "Establishment of the e-Panchayats will serve rural students and farmers in many ways, like getting updates regarding the crop product prices, results and job notifications," the minister said.

The department has sanctioned 2,000 new buildings for Gram Panchayats and works are underway. Buildings will be constructed in spacious premises to conduct review meetings, video conferences and facilitate functioning of e-Panchayats.
