Uttar Pradesh has recently seen some horrifying crime incidents, including Bulandsher gang-rape and an assassination attempt on a BJP leader in Gaziabad. But, the state police has dedicated its resources to find a missing VIP dog, instead of going after criminals those who pose threat to the public safety.

The Agra police has thrown all its energy to search a Labrador dog that belongs to former state minister and BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria.

The UP police is notoriously popular for its lackadaisical approach in nabbing criminals. However, it did not waste any time and swung into action in connection with the missing dog case.

Sources said senior officers have directed their subordinates to find the dog within a couple of hours. Even a police team was rushed to the spot, from where Kallu the dog reportedly went missing. The police are also searching old files related to the missing dog.

Kallu has been reported missing from the MP’s residence at Khandari campus since Tuesday morning. The area is located in the high security zone and is guarded by the Central Industrial Security Force.

Soon after the dog was found missing, Katheria's wife Mridula, along with some BJP leaders, met Superintendent of Police, Agra, Sushil Ghule to register a complaint over the missing dog.

“When Police can probe case of Azam Khan ji's missing buffaloes then why not our missing pet dog?” Mridula asked while making a statement to the media in Agra in connection with the case.

In 2014, Samajwadi Party Cabinet Minister Azam Khan drew flak for using police force to search and find his seven buffaloes, which were stolen from his farm house.

As part of the investigation, an FIR was lodged, a police team with sniffer dogs was formed, CCTV footage was examined. After a week, the VIP buffaloes were found and safely returned to their owner.

Three police officers, however, were later punished by the department for 'dereliction of duty’, following a public backlash.
