After the arrest of Bhim Army founder, Chandrashekhar, police are preparing to slap the National Security Act (NSA) on him so that he spends more time in jail. In this regard, police and the district administration of Saharanpur have been gathering evidence against him.

They have been gathering facts that will establish his and the Bhim Army’s role in fanning violence in Saharanpur and adjoining areas. So far, the police have registered four cases against him, and his role is being investigated in 19 other cases so that the police could consolidate its case of imposing NSA on him.

The administration is also planning to shift Chandrashekhar to another jail in a remote place. He is presently in Saharanpur jail.

It may be recalled that between April 20 and May 23, four riots broke out in Saharanpur, the most gruesome was the clashes between the Dalits and Thakurs of Shabbirpur village in the district. In these clashes, Chandrashekhar had allegedly provoked Dalits with the help of social media that had aggravated violence in the region. The probe team set up by the state government that investigated the matter had found Chandrashekhar's deep involvement in instigating violence.

Chandrashekhar was arrested from Himachal Pradesh a few days ago.
