Journalist and political analyst Cho Ramaswamy passed away at Apollo Hospital in Cheannai on Wednesday. He was 82.
Ramaswamy, who was the founder and editor of political magazine Thuglak, was close to former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. He stood by her during her trying times and she used to turn to him for advice often.
He was in the room next to Jayalalithaa in the hospital. Ramaswamy passed away after learning about the death of former TN CM.
Ramaswamy, who was a Rajya Sabha member, has been unwell for some time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jayalalithaa had called on him after learning about his ill health.
He was also a play writer and a stage actor and had directed several movies.
