Aam Aadmi Party’s office in Ahmedabad was vandalised by unknown persons on Wednesday. No one has been injured.
AAP leader Harshil Nayak while talking to THE WEEK accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat of orchestrating the attack. Window panes were broken while chair and table were damaged. The office is located in Navrangpura.
Nayak said that the BJP was worried with the AAP’s presence in Gujarat and feared of losing in the assembly elections in 2017.
Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had on Tuesday accused the BJP of silencing the voices of people in the last 20 years in Gujarat. Kejriwal was in the state to pay respects to Pramukh Swami Maharaj of BAPS Swaminaryan Sect.
Mortal remains of Pramukh Swami Maharaj were consigned to flames in Sarangpur on Wednesday. BJP national president Amit Shah, finance minister Arun Jaitely and Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani were among those who attended the ritual. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also paid respects.
This was Kejriwal’s third visit to the state in last one month. He had come to meet Dalit family whose members were publicly flogged at Mota Samadhiyala in Saurashtra. He had also come to seek blessings at the Lord Shiva Temple of Somnath.
