Aamir Khan has been the target of right-wing outfits and leaders ever since he made a comment on the growing intolerance in the country.
In the latest instance, the Bollywood superstar faced the wrath of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy, who said the actor had collaborated with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to promote his film PK.
Swamy's comment came two days after another party leader Ram Madhav urged Aamir to preach to his wife about India's prestige.
While talking at an event in November, Aamir had shared his wife Kiran Rao's fear that they might have to leave India to escape the 'growing intolerance' in the country.
"I don't give importance to the statements made by Aamir Khan. I know this fact that he had collaborated with the Pakistan's ISI to promote his movie PK. He has still not come out with a clarification," Swamy was quoted as saying by the ANI.
Swamy further said, being the brand ambassador of Incredible India campaign, it was not right for Aamir to say that his wife feels insecure in the country. If she feels insecure, she should leave, he said.
The actor was the ambassador for the government's 'Incredible India' tourism campaign during the UPA regime. He ceased to be the mascot for the campaign as the contract for it expired.
Meanwhile, another BJP leader on Friday hinted that they would target Aamir's upcoming film Dangal to protest against the actor's remarks.
One has already been fixed and it is time to fix the other one now, Vijayvargiya said while addressing a gathering in Indore. Right-wing activists had earlier staged wide-protests during the release of Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale.
Shah Rukh has also been facing wrath over his remarks on intolerance.
