A three-year-old girl from Manjit Nagar in Ludhiana survived an alleged murder and rape attempt.
According to media reports, the accused, a vegetable seller identified as Sandeep Kumar, lured her by asking her to play with him.
When the accused tried to rape the child, she began to cry. Fearing that he would be caught, he tried to kill her by slitting her throat and fled the spot.
The child was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to the hospital. She survived as the windpipe was not cut.
The accused has been arrested.
