Andhra Pradesh Opposition party YSR Congress is currently on its back foot. So far, 11 MLAs have defected to the the ruling Telugu Desam Party and rumours are that several more are ready to cross over.

Many reasons are being given for the defections and now the YSRCP has woken up to do some damage control.

None other than Jagan's key man and co-accused in the disproportionate assets case Vijayasai Reddy and Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy were sent to Vizianagaram district in north coastal Andhra to placate two of its MLAs, who were said to be ready to jump over to the TDP.

But Bobbili MLA Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao refused to meet the emissaries, apparently because he was out of station.

Sujaya hails from the Bobbili royal family, and has decided to join the TDP soon for he does not approve of Botsa Satyanarayana joining the YSRCP. The other MLA planning to cross over is Saluru (ST) MLA P Rajanna Dora, whom the emissaries did meet and warned him about "falling prey to the TDP's inducements".

"Those who wish to switch sides should first quit their posts and seek a fresh mandate," Vijayasai Reddy said.
