Distraught after losing Rs 100, an 18-year-old boy in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri committed suicide by hanging.

According to media reports, the deceased, identified as Shivam, worked as a waiter at a wedding reception after which he was paid Rs 300. He was not employed anywhere but used to survive on money he used to get from working part-time at various housing societies.

While returning home, Shivam lost Rs 100 and started looking for money. His neighbours told police that Shivam said he would commit suicide if he fails to get the money.

The body was found when Shivam’s father Jaishu came to the house and found the door locked. He broke open the door with the help of the neighbours and found Shivam hanging from the ceiling.

According to one of the investigating officers, no suicide note was found from the house, but he could possibly have taken the extreme step under the influence of drugs.
