Hacking

Sunny Leone's photo appears on GHMC's website

Whether the nude photograph Bollywood actress Sunny Leone is objectionable is certainly a subjective matter, but it is a matter of concern if one such image happens to appear on one of the sections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Cooperation (GHMC) website.

The picture appeared on Offsite Real Time Monitoring System (OSRT), which is used to track the flow of garbage vehicles in the city, forcing the authorities into a flurry of activity to remove it. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed the GHMC Vigilance Wing to conduct a detailed inquiry into the issue.

As it appears to be the handiwork of hackers, the GHMC authorities are beginning to realise how vulnerable is the site to hacking.

The OSRT was launched in 2011 by the civic body through a private service provider (osrt.in) based in Noida to keep a watch on the day to day sanitation works, movement of garbage vehicles, attendance of the sanitation staff.

The website is maintained by the Centre for Good Governance, but they were unable to confirm whether the site had been hacked or had been tampered with by someone within the corporation.

Though the GHMC has scrapped the contract with the service provider, the link is still found on the GHMC website on which the objectionable photograph was reportedly uploaded.

Although no police complaint has been registered, further action will be initiated only after a detailed probe into the same.
