Neglected lover sets girl's house on fire in Bengaluru

An young man in Bengaluru allegedly set the house of his girlfriend on fire after she began neglecting him.

According to media reports, Deepak Shivakumar, a 21-year-old PU dropout who works at a medical shop, set ablaze the house of the girl, an engineering student. The victim suffered 60 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to St.John's hospital in the city. The victim's father, mother and sister too was in the house.

The accused reportedly poured petrol around the house before setting it on fire. The neighbours, who noticed the fire, rescued the people inside.

Although the accused fled the scene, the police questioned him after noticing injuries he sustained while jumping over the wall of the victim's house. He admitted to the crime and was booked for attempt to murder.
