Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is confident of setting everything in order in the party.

Mulayam, who was supposed to visit the national capital on Friday, decided not to go ahead with his visit, instead went to Lucknow where he discussed the ongoing crisis in the party with SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.

He said his brother Shivpal Yadav would retain the post of state president of the party. Mulayam went on to heap praises on his brother, calling him a “grassroot-level leader”.

Party sources said Mulayam would ask his family members to sit together and resolve the feud in the party which has tarnished the image of SP even as the crucial state polls are only a few months away. It is also possible that he would call a parliamentary board meeting of the party to end the crisis. It's a well know fact that any decision taken by him would not be challenged either by his son Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav or Shivpal Yadav.

There are indications that Mulayam wants his brother to have the portfolios taken away from him besides retaining him as the party's state president. He also wants two of the ministers sacked by the CM to be reinstated, which Akhilesh is unlikely to agree with. It remains to be seen how deftly Akhilesh would handle the situation.

Meanwhile, after being made the state president of the party again, Shivpal said he had no idea that would be made the state president and added that portfolios do not make anyone big or small. He went on to say that it is the prerogative of the chief minister to grant or take away portfolios.

He said he is ready to shoulder any responsibility given to him by his brother and work with all sincerity for the party.
