Maharashtra Rural Development and Water Conservation Minister Pankaja Munde landed in trouble after she clicked a selfie with drought-hit Latur district as the background.

The minister was touring the district to review the drought conditions and to oversee the desilting work being carried out by the government when she clicked the controversial selfie that went viral.

She posted the selfie on her Twitter page saying:

Water conservation is happening massively ...isn't it "sawedana" for "duskhal"

She further said:

Reviewed the pipeline work at Latur to take water from Rail wagons for distribution ahead to Latur citizens

Shiv Sena, which is the ally of the ruling BJP in the state, took on the minister saying it was unfortunate that the minister went to the drought-hit Latur and clicked selfies.

Tweeple have flayed the minister for finding a photo op at the drought-hit district.

Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and Nationalist Congress Party leader Majeed Memon too hit out at the minister for the 'irresponsible' act.
