I give every person strength, intelligence, long life, happiness and prosperity. If you realise my importance and consider me as your mother, I will love you like my offspring.”
If you thought that these lines were by a spiritual guru to his followers, you are in for a big surprise. This is a letter found in Hindi textbooks for class V students in Rajasthan 'written' by a cow to students.
Rajasthan is the only state that has a ministry dedicated to ensure the welfare of cows.
The letter from 'mama cow' goes on to list the contributions of cows to the society. It said cow produces the elixir of life in the form of milk and other dairy products and went on to add that the urine and excreta of cow are used for producing medicines. "My offspring, bullock, helps you in agriculture. I also purify environment by breathing," it said, according to media reports.
Cow Minister Otaram Dewasi said the chapter, which will not be given any weightage during the exams, was introduced to create awareness about the benefits of cow.
