A girl sustained serious injuries in a celebratory firing that took place during a wedding ceremony in Mongolpuri area of Outer Delhi.
According to media reports, the victim, identified as Anjali, 18, was standing in the balcony of her rented residence in the area. A wedding procession was passing by and one person from the procession opened celebratory gunfire, injuring the girl.
After the girl was injured, many people who were in the wedding ceremony procession ran away from the spot without informing the police about the incident. The parents of the girl, who heard her scream, rushed her to the hospital where she underwent a surgery.
The condition of the girl continues to be critical.
The parents of the girl were unaware that she sustained a bullet injury when they took her to the hospital.
A case has been registered and investigation is under way.
