For the first time, BJP President Amit Shah and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi seemed to have thought something similar. After Shah lambasted Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Tuesday, alleging that the latter had sent two police officials from Kolkata police’s detective wing to BJP leader Rahul Sinha’s house to bribe Sinha, a Congress delegation in Delhi, led by Manish Tiwari visited Chief Election Commissioners’ office and requested him to remove Kumar from the post.

“They made the deputation after having asked by Rahul Gandhi,” said a senior Congress leader from West Bengal.

Sinha alleged that he had caught two police officers trying to do a sting operation on him and they told him that they were meeting Sinha, BJP national secretary, at the behest of top officials of Kolkata police, including the commissioner.

Sinha told The Week that he is sure that the instruction came from the chief minister.

The BJP leader had made a petition to Election Commission Office in Kolkata on Tuesday requesting the commission to take immediate action against Kumar and ask state government to order CBI inquiry to probe the mater.

Shah said, “This is highly objectionable. We will not accept this.”

Shah also alleged that Kumar was the officer who was in charge of the Saradha investigation before it was handed over to CBI.

“All the evidences were wiped out during the time. CBI is facing lot of problem because of police forces led by him,” Shah claimed.

Meanwhile, CPM politburo member and Bengal secretary Suryo Kanta Mishra will share dais with Rahul Gandhi when Rahul will hold a series of meetings in Kolkata and other parts of Bengal.

An invitation has been sent to Mishra from Congress office and Mishra has accepted the same.

“Yes both Rahulji and Suryo Kanta Babu will share the dais,” said Adhir Chowdhury, Congress’s Bengal president.
