Centre to build 2.40 lakh km long roads by 2019

The Centre will build 2.40 lakh kilometer-long roads across the country by the end of 2019, Union Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh said.

"2.40 lakh kilometer long roads would be constructed across the country by the end of 2019 and every homeless will be provided home by that time," the Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation told reporters.

He said deposits worth around Rs 36,000 crore have been received in accounts opened under the government's flagship financial inclusion programme Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
