A brave 21-year-old Christ University student in Bengaluru managed to stop a pervert who groped her and managed to hand him over to the police.

According to media reports, the girl, hailing from West Bengal and studying law in the university, was on her way to her friend's place to get some notes at 12.30 am on Friday.

The girl was on a call with her friend and failed to notice a drunken man who was coming from the opposite direction. The accused, identified as Pavan Kumar (30), a garments factory employee, grabbed her chest. Although she panicked initially, she managed to gather her wits and tell her friend who was on the line about what was going on.

Her friend rushed to the spot. The duo followed the man who was walking away as the girl wanted to take the photo of her aggressor. When the accused saw them coming close to him, he turned and came towards the girl and punched her on her face and pushed her friend on to the ground.

However, the girl managed to alert the police by dialing 100 and rang up a few friends as well. Although the duo, along with a few passersby tried, to catch hold of the accused, he almost escaped. The cops, who reached the spot on time, nabbed him.

The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
