Bengaluru mob strips Tanzanian girl, sets her car ablaze while cops watch

In a shocking case of hate crime, a mob assaulted an stripped naked a 21-year-old Tanzanian student in Bengaluru on Sunday.

According to media reports, the incident occurred after a man died after he was mowed down by a car driven by a Sudanese citizen.

The girl, a student of Acharya College in the city, was passing through the spot in her car along with her friends 30 minutes after the incident. The irate mob, thinking that she was part of the accident which involved another African national, blocked her car and dragged her out of it.

The angry mob assaulted her, stripped her naked and paraded her and set ablaze the car she was driving. The crowd also beat up a man who tried to cover her.

What was even more disturbing was that the local police stood and watched without making any effort to protect the girl while the crowd continued the assault.

In her complaint, she also alleged that when she tried to enter into a BMTC bus, the people pushed her away. Initially, the police even refused to file an FIR.
