The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday took over the investigation into the attack on West Bengal BJP MP Arjun Singh’s house. The agency filed an FIR based on the directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"We have just received the orders and taken over the case regarding bomb attack outside BJP MP Arjun Singh," an NIA spokesperson told news agency ANI.

At least three crude bombs were hurled by miscreants at Singh's residence in North 24 Parganas district on September 8.

Police said a few people suffered minor injuries in the incident that occurred around 3 am. The explosions have partially damaged the gate outside the house.

The MP, who was in Delhi during the time of the incident, claimed that TMC men carried out the attack on his Bhatpara home following the saffron party’s decision to make him an observer of Bhabanipur assembly seat for the upcoming bypolls.

Singh, a former Trinamool Congress MLA, joined the BJP in 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

While the BJP demanded an NIA probe alleging that the TMC was behind the attack, the ruling party hit back saying the attack was the result of an internal feud in the saffron party.
