The CBI has approached the Supreme Court to appeal against the Calcutta High Court order of May 21 that allowed four TMC leaders, who were arrested in the Narada case, to be shifted to house arrest.
NDTV reported the Supreme Court could hear the CBI plea around 10.30am on Monday.
Media reports said the CBI has also moved an adjournment letter to the Calcutta High Court to defer its hearing on the Narada case, slated for Monday, as the investigation agency had moved the apex court. The CBI has been seeking that all proceedings in the case be transferred out of West Bengal.
On May 21, a two-justice bench of the Calcutta High Court had noted that it was divided on the issue of granting interim bail to Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee. The four leaders were arrested on May 17.
Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee are ministers in the Mamata Banerjee government, while Mitra is an MLA. Sovan Chatterjee had switched from the TMC to the BJP, but left the saffron party in March.

The Calcutta High Court allowed the four leaders to be placed under house arrest given the COVID-19 situation and announced it was constituting a larger bench to hear the case. The five-justice bench—comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justices I.P. Mukerji, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen and Arijit Banerjee—was to take up hearing of the matter at 11am on Monday.
